Simplicity of Christ is aware of subtilty.
Today, we are working on the raised bed in the garden. That is where the Cardoon is growing and struggling after one of its branches/ stems was knocked down by heavy rain. It is also where the Italian straw is thriving, as is the creeping rosemary. Climbing onto the wall, I was amused to find really long dandelion leaves trying to grow behind the Italian straw. Their jaggered leaves were fine to see in such a length.
Here is how my thoughts went
I want to share what two ladies and a monk say about dandelions :
” Some people need flowers, some people need dandelions. It’s medicine, it’s what you need at that time in your life.”
Sandra Cineros is an American writer who also wrote these sad words ” You can’t make people love you, but you can make them fear you.”
Now, a very ‘practical’ one:
” We have to do what we have to do. Miracals happen. The life force of this planet is very strong. Dandelions poke through sidewalks. We don’t know enough to give up. We only know enough to know that we have to change the course of human events .”
