Rosemary and Lamb’s-ear.

…So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one can boast.

1Corinthians 3: 5-7

Ephesians 2: 8-9

Rosemary, the trailing/ creeping sort which I am pleased has flourished and survived two winters in the raised bed of our garden, so I have planted a new one next to it. It is good to have plants that cope with our new weather. This variety has blue flowers although there are pink and mauve ones too. I photographed it close up and liked the outline on the main petal in this photograph.

A bud and flower of trailing rosemary.
A plant that has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

To look now at another plant lamb’s ear  growing  from seed in the potted rose which is to remember Roy’s Mum Dorothy. It belongs to the mint family with its soft, silvery leaves and small purple flowers on stalks. It is low maintenance and adaptable. I removed these new plants gently, put them in water, and photographed them.  They will soon be planted out when I have cleared another area. Here they are:

Lamb’s-ear grown from seed.
A thriving ground cover type plant which is soon to be in soil.

Notice the edge on the leaf, almost like blanket stitch.

The edge of a Lamb’s-ear leaf.

I have other posts on this well loved plant, but here I want to notice that it has seeded in the garden. It hasn’t grown from a cutting/ existing little side plant.

From Rosemary and Lamb’s-ear to a book. A gentle, heartwarming true story written by Marica Mirilav.

DANCE ON THE EDGE

Let me introduce  you. The author sadly died of an aneurism leaving little time to say goodbye, but she did speak to her three children, her husband, and close family. They thought their mother, the author, was getting better, but then there was ‘a second’ like the first, and she passed.

Her story is about her family and her mother’s experience with God and cancer. It is not a story of survival but of a journey with a growing faith in God.

I would recommend it if this is your type of book.

The late author’s last poem in the book was read by her daughter at the memorial service. This poem depicts the reader’s grandmother’s funeral.

Rosemary and Lamb’s-ear so full of life in vigour and growth . Then, Dance on the Edge, a book written with a belief in God’s power as understood by two women.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

Here is the cover of the book.
