Sweet peas and geraniums

As the bow in the cloud is formed by the union of the sunlight and the shower, so the rainbow encircling the throne represents the combined power of mercy and justice. It is not justice alone that is to be maintained; for this would eclipse the glory of the rainbow of promise above the throne; people could only see the penalty of the law. Were there no justice, no penalty, there would be no stability  to the government of God. It is this mingling of judgement and mercy that makes salvation complete. It is the blending of the two that leads us, as we view the world’s Redeemer, and the law of Jehova, to exclaim ‘Thy gentleness hath made me great.‘

As I reached out and took the jar, it was icy cold. She stood there tastefully dressed. Her choice of pale colours for this midsummer’s day was perfect. She had walked to bring me flowers kept overnight in her fridge.

” It is my turn to give you flowers.” She said.

I was thrilled. 

The smell of sweetpea flowers  is according to the perfume society somewhere between orange blossom and hyacinth, with a hint of rose. How lucky to have these as a gift.

These flowers are native to Sicily, Southern Italy and the Aegean Islands. Growing from 3ft 3in to 6ft 7in, their fine  tendrils help them to climb on other plants or supports . The wild flowers are purple while the cultivated flowers are in shades of blue, pink, purple and white, including bi-colours.

I had to paint them. Painting reflects the emotions of the painter and perhaps a little of the form of the object, not always an exact replique as  sight has travelled through a mind. Paint also plays and takes its position as does the paper dispersing it. Says Sandy.
