Foxgloves

Jesus speaking: “The sower sows the word.”

Mark 4: 14 ( Jesus tells a parable and its meaning Mark 4: 2-20).

The top of a tall foxglove.
I never saw the glory date of their two year cycle completed in white, pink and purple
But they stand in the "lush" garden.
From top to leaf surrounded bottom their spikes 18 to 60 inches tall.
The once summer - butterfly- attracting -and insect -beguiling colour all gone!
They are quiet and peaceful with no distractions
The seeds are heavy in each poach dependent on the driness of the day and a gentle nudge.
They are overpopulated
One to two million seeds per plant.

What will happen to all these seeds?

One pouch of seeds
spilt out on paper
each has a potential of a 60-inch plant.
How toned in colour,
how charming in shape.
The summer foxglove.
Two years completed.

Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant.

Robert Louis Stevenson

Dreams are the seeds of change. Nothing ever grows without a seed, and nothing ever changes without a dream.

Debby Boone

Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

  1. Lovely thoughts about seeds, thank you. I was astounded that my foxgloves grew to 5 ft 8,just taller than myself. It felt like being a child amongst the plants in my mother’s garden again.. 😊

  2. Sandy, it is mind-boggling with that many seeds and indeed what happens to them all?! Just think if they all became plants! A lovely post and I love all the quotes and the Robert Louis Stevenson touches me especially and a great reminder to all of us. Annika
