God speaking to the woman: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception, in sorrow you will bring forth children; and your desire will be to your husband, and he will rule over you. “
God speaking to the man: “cursed is the ground, in sorrow you will eat of it all the days of your life, it will be difficult until you turn into dust for that is what you are from.”
God then made the first clothes out of skins.

We are visiting the world’s largest sculpture park.
The first question : ” Why are they, the sculptures all nude?”
The answer from a guide: ” He wanted them to remain timeless.”
No evolving to have longer fingers for technology and perhaps bigger heads with shorter legs? 😉
Vigeland Sculpture Park is a gift to us from a man who married Valborg Kristine Madsen (1879-1951), his full name, which he changed was Gustav Vigeland (1869 – 1943).
They had three children:
Maria Vigeland 1903- 1983, Per Vigeland,Inum Vigeland 1917-
It is said he was: shy, reclusive, stubborn, and strategic.
Here is a quote from him about sex:
That two bodies press convulsively together, man and woman, he fertilising her, he giving her a budding life, or he planting a seed, a seed of life in her womb –
Oh God
I think this God – given idea is
So enormous,
So eternal,
So endlessly wise –
that people should not be allowed to depict it in art!

Let us look at this site in the shape of a Latin Cross. We will look at examples of his work in three areas of this cross shape.
The bridge.
The fountain.
The monolith.
It is a bright midday with children and tourists enjoying the environment. Children are encouraged to climb and enjoy the statues around the monolith, and they appear in my pictures.
The bridge
I was too involved with giving them my own titles to take pictures. Vigeland didn’t like to give titles but rather described what you saw.
My brain was doing that!

The statues around the monolith were the ones children were climbing on under supervision from adults.
The monolith itself took three stone massons from summer 1929 to summer 1942 to make. It has 121 adults and children striving upwards. When he was asked what it meant, this was his answer:
” This is my religion.”
It is easy to see his focus : conception, birth,growing up, living together, and finally, death.
I found it irreverent, shocking, and difficult to look at. The park was placed near his studio rather than near the Palaces. I understand.
