Bremen

A joyful heart is good medicine…

Proverbs 17:22
This statue is 5m high and weighs two tonnes a reminder to all who come to Bremen’s stately buildings that there is a fairy tail worth remembering.
The Breman Town Musicians . It was written by the Brother’s Grimm.
If you have forgotten the moral, then in short, it is:  stay resilient and refuse to stay down when others put you down.
The Bremer Glass windos by Alfred Monessier

It is not often that a town/ city gives so much in the way of reminding me of my past, but here is a delightful experience in the form of an instalation. We have crossed the square from the delightful animal statue, and Roy has gone in and come out of a church, he has told me that I would really love what was on the right of the cathedral!

What could he mean. I leave Bess, and as I enter, I am overwhelmed with colours all on the walls and floor. The windows are letting the sun play everywhere!

Then I see it.

A swing as high as ‘heaven’, and we are invited to sit and swing on it!

The length of the ropes, the reflected colours, the silence of the church.

I was silent as I moved through it all.

Thank you! Alfred Monessier.

Then, in the same area, a group were organising themselves. Roses at the ends of their litter pickers to make an arch! A big red heart at the end of the two lines

Out they came. Smiles and laughter as they were each handed a pair of scissors, he was a little awkward she was efficient but patiently let him catch up as they cut out the large red heart. Then he lifted her through it, and I wasn’t ready for my own response.  My whole body tingled, and tears came to my eyes. I had witnessed colleagues and friends welcome one of themselves from being two to now one in marriage.

Bremen is a city  full of historical buildings, but it was its soft heart I met that day.

Here are a few moments in Bremen, a city of joy for us.

Thank you for being with us in Bremer. Take care.

Sandy 🙂
