The hidden tulip

Jesus said: love one another as I have loved you…by this all people will know that you are my disciples.

John 13 : 34,35 (Sandy’s summary)

During covid 19, my son and his friend turned this metal cupboard into a planter. This spring, it is full of tulips, a gift from friends and Salad Burnet, planted in 2019.

While picking up tortured willow twigs blown down over Easter,
I, for no reason,
went over to the container and ran my hand under its broad rim.
I felt a firm head,
a tulip growing against the metal side.
A full bloom.

A lot of hard work is hidden behind nice things.

Nature is relentless and unchangeable, and it is indifferent as to whether its hidden reasons and actions are understandable to man or not.

I do not at all understand the mystery of Grace – only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.

Tortured willow twigs from past years
and new fresh green leaves from the tree
with three tulips from the metal cupboard planter.
All in a West German vase.

It was good to be in the garden with so much  beauty.

If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would have no meaning.

C.S.Lewis

Then, a cupboard quote:

We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.

John Lennon

Have a good time of day.

Sandy 🙂
