Worship the Lord in the beauty found in holiness. Respect Him the whole Earth. Give the LORD glory… let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad, let the seas roar, let the field be joyful, and all that is in them: then all the trees of the wood will rejoice before the Lord: for He comes to judge the earth: (how) with righteousness, and the people with His truth.
Psalm 96 : 9, 11, 12, 13

The Lonicera /Honeysuckle
Smooth, sleek, polished
growing through the Barberis darwinii Hook
Thorny, spiny, bristled barbed,armed,splenetic-
Spiteful and badtempered.
Together in a vase:

I found out from Bernard Leach Pottery that the vase I have was made in Lowerdown Pottery in Bovey Tracey set up by David Leach, one of Bernard Leach’s three sons. I was close but not right to think it came from St. Ives.
I think it’s brown shape holds this March group from the garden well. The creeper and the shrub with leaves large and small.

Two leaves picked and lying together. Edges and outlined ribs in red or cream. These are perfectly able to capture what is needed for a spring growing plant.
…somewhere within sight of the tree of poetry that is eternity wearing the green leaves of time.
R.S.Thomas 1913 – 2000 He was a Welsh poet and Anglican priest who loved his Welsh culture and language.
Our day has had a little blue and white, but now it is a dull grey. I have enjoyed the time it took to paint these two contrasting plants. Here is my experience.
