A post box before Christmas

Paul’s experience of God led him to say this : Do not be nervous , uneasy, or worry about anything. Instead, do this:

Think of things God has helped you with already and say thank you. Then, in a sincere, humble way, ask God for help with a problem or for something you want. This is a faith relationship. God, through Jesus, making you feel loved.

Philippians 4:6 Sandy has made it her own see for yourself it may say something different to you.

Here are touches of Christmas in a village.

A wreath on a red door
bristle brooms for sale
stock out to tempt people in
A bleak winter day!

Stepping out towards the centre of the village is this British cultural icon.

An oval shaped, cast iron double posting – slot letter box. Each box has its own set of keys and should display the Royal cypher of the monarch . It is clear to see that Queen Elizabeth II was reigning at the time this post box came to be in the village. Not only this box but quite a few others had festive knitted scenes on top.

I have worked with wool all my life as a designer. There’s so much more to it than knitwear- its an amazingly versatile material and can be used in so many different ways, from chic to rustic

Donatello Versace (Italian fashion designer, businesswoman, socialite, and a 1990’s model)
A ginger bread house and person.

I guess she didn’t have this in mind, but travelling through Europe, we have seen creative scenes outside on trees and supports all made from wool, so this post box was not a surprise but rather fun. A gift from the village people to make others smile.

Nothing echoes like an empty mailbox.

Charles M Schulz (1922-2000 He was an American cartoonist and creator of the comic strip Peanuts, featuring his two best-known characters, Charlie Brown and Snoopy.)

I found the following interview with the late Charles M. Schulz fascinating. He talks about his underlying sadness and whether cartoons are true art. Press on his name if you would like to hear this gentle, kind, ‘funny’ person speak.

A ‘post’ including an iconic / ironic post box I won’t be needing this Christmas. Thank you for looking.

Sandy 🙂

  1. I can see Mom knitting things like that. She so loved making teddy bears. She knitted the kids mice once too.
I must come back to this post and listen to Charles Schulz.
