Polesdon Lacey

When we were enemies, we were reconciled by Jesus’ death on the cross. ( All the Christmas trees in the world couldn’t do this.)

Romans 5:10

I guess on roads we travel, we take opportunities, and some friends wanted to see Polesdon Lacey decked out for Christmas, so we did. The Christmas trees in different rooms were tall, short, and broad, all with gifts beneath them.

Why are Christmas trees always looking to the future? Because the present is beneath them.

Unknown.
The entrance hall with its 20ft tree.

This is where society hostess Dame Grenville (1906 –1942)welcomed her weekend guests, King Edward VII and his circle.

King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, spent the first part of their 1923 honeymoon relaxing at Mrs Greville’s House. It does have 18 bedrooms, with 15 of them having their own en suite.

The short book tree in the library.
The tree for hanging your wishes on.
I had so many, but I used restraint and just wrote one important one, or was it two? 🙂
Then, quite a few hall trees in white.
The biggest gift of all is Polesdon Lacey itself.

One may ask : ” What are three good characteristics of scaffolding?”

Sturdy

Supportive

Safe

All for the workers to use.

Then ask Jerome Bruner:

It is reducing the number of steps required to solve a problem by simplifying the task so that the learner can manage components of the process and recognize when a fit with task requirement is achieved .

Bruner (1915 – 2016 ) was an American psychologist who made significant contributions to human cognitive psychology and learning. Press on his name to hear him speak.

We had our first snow flakes fall today, which is very early for us. I guess we will put up a tree soon and enjoy the colour of its lights.

However you choose to celebrate or not, this comes with a smile.

  1. Thank you for sharing Polesdon Lacey at Christmas! There were reports of snow flurries yesterday here where I live, but we didn’t see any. I started decorating the house couple days ago, so boxes are rescattered around the house, didn’t I just put them all away moving in?!! I visited my Mom today, put a beautiful blanket of greens & decor on her grave. Heart-tugging, teary day for me, yet just a few graves from Mom’s, I met an elderly man visiting his wife’s grave, who he lost this past August. We were each other’s angels, comforting the other. I believe we were meant to be there at the same time, he certainly gave me strength and hope. We hugged at parting! 🙂
