You are happy when you don’t share time with those who mock you.
Psalm 1:1 (This is Sandy’s very brief wording . David says it far more strongly.)

the last bloom from
2023’s hollyhocks.

schizocarp (debris ) that lies on the left – a dry disc divided into 15 sections that contains the seeds as seen on the right.
Out of that debris with a pronounced proboscis and orange legs scuttled a hollyhock weevil.
The female has a much longer proboscis I only saw one,
so I don’t know!
Here is a quote about debris which then led to some thoughts about greetings:
What is the appropriate behaviour for a man or a woman in the midst of this world, where each person is clinging to his piece of debris? What is the proper salutation between people as they pass each other in this flood.
Gautama Buddha ( He lived during 5/6century BC)
How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains.
John Muir ( Scottish – born naturalist 1938-1914.)
How kind but…
The topic of global warming is so heavy that sometimes the only way you can open people’s eyes is by greeting them with levity and self-depreciation.
Laurie David ( American environmental activist, producer, and writer.)

Arthur Guiterman known for his humorous poems, said: “Don’t tell your friends about your indigestion.
‘ How are you? ‘
is a greeting, not a question.
Here is a poem of his.
On the Vanity of Earthly Greatness
The tusks which
clashed in mighty
brawls
Of mastodoms, are
billiard balls
The sword of
Chalemagne the Just
Is Ferric Oxide, known
as rust
The grizzly bear, whose
potent hug
Was feared by all, is
now a rug
Great Carsar's bust is
on the shelf
And I don't feel so well myself.

Glad you like it. Thank you. It is such delicate flower to try and paint.🤗
She is absolutely gorgeous, Sandy! (All hollyhocks are girls in my opinion.) And you painted here so beautifully!
Ah, thank you. I hadn’t thought of her as a girl and yes she was alone in the garden the only one left in the rain. I loved painting this and glad you like it too.
