A Sabbath walk through the forests near Ascot.

God has promised: ” I will make a person more precious than fine gold; Even more precious than a golden wedge of Ophir.” (Solomon sent ships to get the finest gold from Ophir 1Kings 9 : 26 – 28)

Isaiah 13 : 12

With this promise in our mind consider this:

Nothing is apparently more helpless, yet really more invincible than the soul that feels its nothingness and relies wholly on the merits of the Saviour.

By prayer,

by the study of God’s word,

by faith in God’s abiding presence,

the weakest of us may live in contact with the living Christ and

He will hold us with a hand that will never let go.

Bracken green. No flowers. No seeds. Only spores that spread allowing for a thick mass of growth.
They come new each season
but
the trees are there year after year.

I fell in love with flora of all types, especially ferns. Loved the sparse structure and repetition of shape- almost fractal .

( These are shapes distinct from simple figures of classical geometry – the square, the circle, the sphere – Latin fractus- fragmented broken. Fractal was coined by the Polish – born mathematician Benoit B Mandelbrot.)

A pleasant walk with a smaller group today.

In the pursuit of knowledge,  follow it wherever it is to be found; like fern, it is the produce of all climates, and like coin, its circulation is not restricted to any particular class.

Charles Caleb Cotton (Church of England Priest. )

It may have been grey but it was a pleasant enough day.
