Dill, Rudbeckia, Lovage

Jesus talking: ” They that are well do not need a doctor but the sick do. I came for the sinners not the righteous” The closer we come to Christ the more we realise our sinfulness and great need for Him.

Luke 5: 31,32 ( Sandy’s simplified version, this is experience .)7

Rubekia growing well in Ham house gardens. Cleary the right conditions: moist , well drained soil in the sun. Plentiful blooms from mid August to October or the first frosts.
Can be grown in containers .
That is where mine are I can’t otherwise vouch for the right conditions.
Here is a German vase and in it is dill in fluffy pale green at the back and on the sides, some brown lovage seed heads in the front, with four Shasta Daisy centers .
Yes, I left the redyellowbrown of the main flower out
a large
Rudebeckia.

I tried to paint this flower but the words that came to my mind were : “Nothing compares. No nothing compares to…” Our news recently was very sad for many people as Sinead O’connor passed away at a relatively young age. The BBC had her singing this song each time they mentioned her… so it was not surprising it was in my head.

A Rudbeckia, my attempt but nothing ever compares to the real…

Some thoughts about comparing:

Here is some fine grammar from The Chicago Manual of Style :

‘ To compare with is to discern both similarities and differences between two things.

To compare to is to note primarily similarities between things.’

Most of us don’t mind which we use.

Then this is what was said in a counciling session:

Never compare your inside with somebody else’s outside.

Gabe Singleton remembering her counselor’s first advice- Michael Palmer

Here is a testimony from a drug addict:

I was always comparing myself to others and scorning those I thought I knew better than. First , I scorned religious people in favour of partying; now I was scorning parties in favor of prosperity and education. It was not until I met Christians that I learned how to love others and stop judging them. They taught me where true security comes from . They taught me to be satisfied in God so that I didn’t need to use other people or compare myself to them.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and that if you are new to reading my posts that you will soon understand that I love God because He first loved me.

    1. A big thank you. I guess you really need to know some things about me: I only started using my i-phone camera during lock down, my drawing when I was trying to write about my childhood memories, painting is only now in the last few months with some on WP. I really don’t consider myself artistic, except that I am having a lot of fun!!!
