Baobabs and a white lion.

Yours, Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom , the Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.

1 Chrinicles 29: 11
A few miles outside of Hoedspruit a baobab.
Written on the side is :
The largest pot plant in the world.
It’s setting makes it grand.

I have seen landscapes… which under a particular light, make me feel that at any moment a giant might raise his head over the next ridge.

C.S Lewis
A younger baobab tree in Hoedspruit.
It takes 15 to 20 years to mature.

The baobab also known as the upside down tree has strong horizontal branches: long green vegetative ones and stout woody reproductive ones. Winter shows their grey stable round form. The trunk fluctuates in diameter according to the amount of water available. They have experienced a die – off in the 21st century due to dehydration.

I asked Dad about the tree and he said ” Oh, the cream of tarter tree. I used to suck the seeds and spit out the pips”. We did too. The seeds are in large, oval green to grey velvety seed pods. The pods are ready to crack open when the seeds rattle.

One of two white lions we saw at Moholoholo Wildlife and rehabilitation Center.
There is a lot on the Internet showing experiences had with these animals needing help.

O, it is excellent to have a giant’s strength but it is tyrannous to use it like a giant.

Thank you for letting me share a bit of it.

  1. I love your first photo of the boabab tree and the house. And your photo of you and your father and sister at Victoria Falls in 1972 reminds that I was there in 1971. It was incredible, so memorable. Blessings.

      1. Yes, true! I was 8 but my dad had died 2 years earlier so I think my mother was trying to distract herself through some travel. Not a bad way to distract oneself or for a child to learn more about the world ๐Ÿ˜Š

      2. Awww thank you, it was a huge loss, and so premature… But it is things like that that shape ones life. I am grateful that my mother had such an amazing faith and she passed that on to me. It’s what holds me in times of trouble and chaos. I learnt to rely on God as my father in many situations. I appreciate you message.
