Red hot poker surrounded by bottle brush and Tutsan.

Here is an interpretation of a story as Jesus , the story teller was asked the question: “What might this mean?”

Well, it is like this I want those who ask the question to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of God, others couldn’t be bothered. They see but don’t see, they hear but don’t ask to understand. So here it is:

Seed falls on the road side – people hear -my message goes to their heart and the devil comes and literally takes it out of their minds it no longer affects their emotions. They can’t believe or be saved.

Seed falls on the rock, people are so happy to know God that they grow shallow roots but when temptation comes they fall for it.  People forget about the word forgiveness and God’s love.

Seed that falls among the thorns, people  grow  the truth well but the cares, riches and pleasures of this world like weeds choke them.  Gone. They are so distracted.

Seed that falls on good soil, people hear the word keep it, are honest and patient with themselves and others. (They wait on the Lord no matter how bad things get.)

The seed is The Word of God.

It is

THE AUTHORITY.

Luke 8: 11-15 (Read it as it is. This is Sandy’s understanding.)
Two red hot pokers mostly yellow.
They are the variety  that are redorange and age to yellow.
All around them are the red bottle brush.
The shrub we brushed the snow from is now a curtain of red with a moving cover of bee wings and buzzing sounds. Giving a little tinge more of  yellow are the Tutsan berries.
These three plants have thrived while we have been away.

There are about 35 known bottlebrush species belonging to the myrtle family.

Tutsan is part of the Hypericum genus, which contains over 400 species of plants commonly referred to as St. John’s Wort.

As for the red hot poker there is the common one which I have, then ‘Springtime’ with coral and yellow flowers, and ‘ Tawny King’ which has cream to apricot flowers.

Variety is not the spice,  but the very stuff of life.

Christopher Burney (MBE Englishman 1917 – 1980. He wrote ‘ Solitary Confinement ‘ . It is the story of his own experience. The book is out of print and difficult to find.)
A crooked stem with shadow.

To crooked eyes truth may wear a wry face.

J.R.R. Tolkien ( Born in SA died in England 1892- 1973 Author )

Crooked thinking, unintentional or not, always favours evil.

Dallas Ward (American Philosopher
1935 – 2013)

A strange grey sky,  humid almost hot. I wonder what your day is like. I’m looking forward to watching Wimbledon on the telly in a few days.

  1. Love your Scriptures according to Sandy! Red hot poker flowers are so much like aloes which are in full bloom at the moment.
