Thessaloniki’s waterfront ( Greece )

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that called you, who also will do it.

Thessalonians 5: 23-24 Paul was writing to a group in this city. He seems to comment alot about the Second Coming of Christ Thessalonians 1:10, 2:19, 3: 13-18, 5: 23.
Thessaloniki the second largest city in Greece is a modern city with a modern European feel.
It was designed by French architect
Ernest Hebard.
He was invited to design the city after
a spark from a kitchen fire fell on a pile of dry straw
was ignored
and burnt down two thirds of Thessaloniki .
It is now known as
The Great fire of 1917.
It burned for 32 hours
taking
9,500 homes,
leaving 70,000 homeless.

If you press on the picture you will see that I am looking at the harbour with several large ships and a sprawl of modern city buildings.
The water front boarders the Thermaic gulf of the Agean Sea.
The 3 to 4 miles is well used by cyclists and walkers.

Far in the distance a red brick theater backs the grey form of a war ship , destroyer Fletcher.
Disarmed in 1991.
It was built in the shipyards of Boston and served in the USA navy with the name Charette.
It is open to the public to view.
The still, shallow water of a larger area making up a water garden.

Parks line the walk way with the deep restless sea held back with a wall.
Across the road from the sea is a couple, their relatives and friends and a Greek Orthodox Church.
Then another couple at the picture taking phase, a reminder of what they chose today…

Further on others have left their locks. A couple were taking a picture of them/theirs?…

The locks with a restless sea.

Water is a very good servant, but a cruel master.

Charles G.D Roberts.

When the well is dry, we know the worth of water.

Benjamin Franklin

Thank you for considering the words of Paul to the people he loved in this city and noticing what I saw.

Sandy 🙂
