Verbena and Crocosmia a revisit in winter

Put away the suspicion that God’s promises are not meant for you. They are for everyone who says sorry. Grace and strength have been provided through Christ to be brought by serving angels to every person who believes… Jesus invites us to live …

EG White in Sandy’s understanding. These verses are quite straight forward. Ezekiel 18 : 26 – 28
Bulbs of Crocosmia.
I saw them there this morning after all the frost and rain a healthy group of paper brown still under their leaves. Leaves with straight riged lines down the centre of pale russet.
Here they are with long, pleated , sword – like, mid – green leaves before I placed them in the garden . They were in my post :
Yellow Crocosmia, grey – blue sea holy and purple verbena…
Looking at the angles formed by the verbena stems I noticed that each main stem branched into three stems with the middle stem being the shortest. A wide angle split.

Right angles don’t attract me. Nor straight, hard and inflexible lines created by man.

Oscar Niemeyer 1907 – 2012 Brazillian architect.

Oscar Niemeyer is considered to be one of the key figures in the development of modern architecture. He designed the Civic buildings for Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, and collaborated with other architects on the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.

Then an actor, a poet and an artist talking about angles.

‘Some people thrive under pressure, but pressure can also ruin a performance, it can push you down angles which you don’t want to go.’

Henry Cavill 1983 British actor.

‘Poems are not read: they are reread. Reread the poem, them read between the lines, then look at it, then watch it, then peak at it: handle it like an object. Contemplate it’s shadows, angles and dimensions.’

Terrace Hayes (1971 American poet and educator who has published seven poetry collections.)

‘Even the dullest bird or face becomes interesting when you give it a good look in the wild/flesh. The way the shadow drops across the cheek, the light hits an eyebrow, etc… there are many more angles, positions etc than you can ever imagine.’

Siegfried Woldnek Dutch Artist and illustrator. Here he is doing a TED talk about a ‘famous face’. Ted Talk

Again I enjoyed the road this post took. Such interesting people. I hope you meet them too. I leave you with this thought.

Sandy 🙂

‘ Good art is art that allows you to enter it from a variety of angles and to emerge with a variety of views.’ Mary Schmich ( American journalist born 1953.)
