For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:11
Today we caught a bus from our camp site to the city.
We got off the bus at this impressive Porta del Mar with a cross in the centre main arch. It was designed by Javier Lleo in 1944 as a monument to the fallen. This part of the city had broad streets lined with trees and ornate older buildings. The trees with their new leaves were particularly appreciated today as it was 31 degrees. Valencia is a city of many faces. The one we saw today was sophisticated, calm and opulent. We walked for about 40 minutes using Google maps and once up a side street… we heard singing and soon everyone was singing in Spanish a song that means so much to me. Turn your eyes upon Jesus.…then there was a sermon… and too soon everyone was singing another well known song Trust and obey…Fountain View Acadamey As we left a lady gave me a big hug and kissed me on each cheek. I said thank to her for being so blessed in their company not having understood their fluent Spanish but having known the hymns from the tunes. Then we walked through an upmarket area of the city back to the bus.A park area of sculpturesFine buildings and one of a whole row of jacaranda trees. The city had a lot of blossom in its clean streets.
What is a city? It is its people.
What is a church? It is its people who love each other and their centre Jesus.
