The people who turn to Jesus for refuge, He lifts above the accusing and the strife of tongues. No man or evil angel can impeach these people. Christ unites them to His own divine – human nature. They stand beside the great Sin Bearer, in the light proceeding from the throne of God. (This is in the story of Mary washing Jesus feet in The Desire of Ages chapter 62)

In medieval times, washerwomen were known as “lavenders” because they scented drawers with the flowers and dried laundry on the scented bushes. Lavender first arrived in Britain in the army kitbag of the Romans, who had faith in its power to heal wounds. It is a natural antiseptic and antibiotic.
