Red and white

…Salvia jamensis Lamiaceae and Eigeeon Karvinskianus both in an Aynsley made in England Cottage Garden petite vase.

The writing under the vase continues: ‘ A portrayal of the flora of an English Cottage Garden.

How our gardens are changing because in this vase are two plants that can cope with heat. Salvia and a fleabane both in containers with their roots growing out into the beds they are placed in. Pink yarrow in front of the fleabane and border grass in front of the red and white Salvia. All four proven in this garden to be drought resistant.

The Aynsley vase with small autumn flowers.

The fleabane growing in a container behind the thriving pink yarrow.

And the Salvia behind the border grass with strap leaves going brown.

It is good to have these plants and know that they have survived many years. All six years of blogging.

Here is a quote from Dr Seus it made me smile:

‘ We’ve taught you that the earth is round, That red and white make pink, And something else that matters more – We’ve taught you how to think.

And David said:

‘ As the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him…

Like a father pities His children the LORD pities them that fear Him.

He remembers that we are dust and our days are like grass or a flower which the wind passes over and it is no more.

BUT

The mercy of the LORD is for everlasting to them that fear Him.

From Psalm 103 : 11- 17 but the whole Psalm is reassuring.

All this fear. What is this really?

‘ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil, pride and arrogance. The froward mouth.’ Proverbs 8:13

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

And so for red and white. ‘White… is not a mere absence of colours; it is a shining and affirmative thing, as fierce as red, as definite as black.’

G.K Chesterton.
