and three goodbyes from Joshua an ancient from the Old Testament Bible, Peter the man who denied Jesus but said sorry, and Paul who was once Saul, both of these are people from the New Testament Bible.

A tall glass of water
Here are three thoughts: a saying, a description, a psychological parable.
A saying
To drown in a glass of water means to panic or get easily overwhelmed by a very small and simple problem.
A compliment
‘A tall glass of water’ is an idiomatic compliment for a person who is very tall, slim and attractive.
A psychological parable
The glass of water stress theory. Hold the glass of water for a minute, it is easy. Hold it for an hour you hurt. Hold it all day it paralyses you. ‘Put the glass down.’ Don’t carry your worries endlessly!
What was Joshua’s worry just before he died. Joshua gathered all the people he was responsible for and asked them to make a choice. He put down his glass. It was a this or that.
Joshua speaking: ‘ Serve the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth and put away the gods served before the flood… I have made my decision … for me and my house we will serve the LORD.’
The people said: ‘The LORD our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey.’
Then Joshua at 110 years old died. A tall glass,he didn’t drown and he laid his burden down neatly.

Peter knows that he will soon ‘put down the glass’ but is still wanting to say something important to those he loves.
He says: ‘ After I die I want you to have these things in your memory.’
Here are two of his thoughts:
‘The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and reserve the unjust for the day of judgement.’ 2 Peter 2:9
And
‘ The Lord is not wishy-washy / slack about His promises; but is very patient / long suffering with us because He doesn’t want any of us to be finally destroyed but that we all will repent of doing wrong.’
What is ‘wrong’?
Joshua: ‘ serving other gods ‘
Peter: ‘ beware that you my friends aren’t led away with the error of the wicked saying:
‘Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.’ Careful now!
Peter continues writing:
‘ But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word (which created them) are kept in store/ reserved for the fire of judgement and complete ruin of the soul/ perdition of ungodly people.’
There is always so much more to a topic like this.

Paul says good-bye.
He knows he is going to be killed by the Romans and this is what he says:
‘ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: from now on there is kept for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord , the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but all them also that love His appearing.’
A glass of water. A glass of us. Or a message of choice.
