Paul wrote a letter to Titus, but who was Titus? Titus was a pagan who converted to Christianity. A person Paul considered trustworthy and a representative of him in Corinth.
Paul tells Titus: ‘ Let no one hate you… not by works of righteousness which we have done but by God’s mercy He saves us, by the Holy Ghost making us new in a way recreating / regenerating us. This all done by Jesus Christ our Saviour giving it to us in large amounts. ‘
Then there is this promise with God speaking:
‘ A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh.’
Why?
‘To cause you to walk in my statutes, and keep my judgements.’
And then Paul speaks but this time to the Romans:
‘ Don’t think as everyone else thinks , but have a renewed mind.’
Why?
That you may prove what is the good and acceptable perfect will of God.
Change is coming soon for the meadow where plants have shed or folded their leaves to look after roots. Today it has been raining and we are pleased. The three photographs above record the yellow of the wildflower meadow, the areas around the veteran oaks, and how the pond has shrunk in Popeswood meadow.
The change will come as new greens come through the tall grass, dust is washed from the shrubs and trees and the pond level rises. Heat without water is over.
But it is not a positive change that we see everywhere in some places there is a no going back. Climate change is here.
It is with these words that we think of those in shock and pain due to natural disasters this week:
‘ There is a lot that happens around the world we cannot control. We cannot stop earthquakes, we cannot prevent droughts, and we cannot prevent all conflict, but when we know where the hungry, the homeless and the sick exist, then we can help.’
