The Sky Road

The Sky Road is a famous 16km scenic coastal loop starting and ending in Clifton, County Galway.

In this post I present 5 photographs from this special drive and celebrate a Bible verse with different meanings for the last word comfort.

Here is Paul speaking: ‘ God is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.’

The first meaning of comfort can be ‘ freedom from pain, a warm, snug, safe feeling.’

A home far down in the green of fields with cliffs and the wild Atlantic coast beyond.

Two other comfort words can be solace: a peace during deep sadness

consolation: words or acts that make grief feel smaller

Some sunshine making heather and grass brighten as we take a winding road.

Comfort can also be general peace and contentment. A feeling of security and serenity. A clear calm outlook free from worry of danger.

A familiar post in the middle background with the horizontal zigzag meaning that we are on the Wild Atlantic Way and on the side vertically it says the Skyroad. The Atlantic Way is always well sign posted and has places to rest and view the splendid landscape.

Land meeting water, water meeting sky.

The Biblical Greek for comfort is made up of two words para meaning beside/alongside and kaleō meaning to call. It means ‘ coming alongside someone to help them.

So God comes ‘alongside’us no matter where we are if we want Him to be. And when we do we will feel this through the Holy Spirit, as John calls Him the comforter ( the paraklēsis).

It is very green and beautiful here. Ireland keeps filling one with awe.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
