Scabiosa atropurpurea…

…grown from seed in 2025 and blooming now in 2026. I am so pleased. To celebrate I placed them alone in a copper jug that once belonged to Mum Dorothy and Dad Brian. A well travelled vase. I will also include a photograph of where these plants have thrived in the garden.

These stalks have wonderful shape others grew straight up. Being away the plants were influenced by others growing near them as well as wind direction. Two plants grew on straight strong stalks.

Scabiosa maroon in colour growing beside the bird bath.

Here the plant has lacked suppot and grown to the side. The plant is growing in five different places three of which it needed support.

Another plant I was eager to see was the sunflower. Last year 2025 I had saved seed from a very large sunflower that had fallen on its face and featured in my posts. This year 2026 I have four plants that have grown from this seed, three were supported well but the fourth I didn’t manage to support but I am doing so now.

The first to bloom…

This one seems to have more than one bloom.

The third …

…and the fourth that I have tried to support.

The garden is so full of interest and while watering some of the plants this morning there was so much to be pleased about.

Here is a thought from David: God you are my hiding place and my shield: I have hope in your WORD.

Psalm 119 : 114

Then Paul says it this way: Two things which God can’t lie about is that we have a refuge/ safe space a hope that is an anchor for ourselves in Jesus who is already the high priest in heaven. We can choose to take refuge in this hope. ( my understanding)

I wanted to know what this meant: ‘ that by two immutable things in which it was impossible for God to lie’. What were these two things ?

This is the answer I found but I would like to know more:

God’s promises.

God’s oath.

Hebrews 6: 18-19 these are the texts I was looking at.

I have so much to learn.

Here are some quotes with oath:

It is not the oath that makes us believe the man, but the man that made the oath.

Aescylus

Or said a different way:

Put more trust in nobility of character than in an oath.

Solon

And now two thoughts about promises:

If you wish to be a success in the world, promise everything, deliver nothing.

Napoleon Bonaparte

Those who are most slow in making a promise are the most faithful in performance of it.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
