An accident, a thunder storm and Sabbath

We were at a T-junction and slowly moving forward to the middle of a narrow two-laned road. There was suddenly a cruch of metal and a thud on my side as Bugzy’s front left side gouged out the tire of the first wheel of a truck cab. The 8 wheeled trailer then slowly moved past in green as our cab scraped a long indentation on the metal side of the trailer. We were so grateful we didn’t toppel over at that stage! We now know that this type of truck carries rubber airbags that inflate around goods. Our indentation was on the metal. This truck was empty.

The truck driver was a very considerate, intelligent young man. We admitted our fault immediately. He had been in our blind spot. It could have all been so much worse!

We spent about an hour with the police who were efficient, formal and filled in all the necessary paper work. We paid what we called a fine, but I think they had another word. Fortunately although Bugzy looks damaged we can legally drive her and we certainly did. A massive storm was brewing. The type that comes witg hot weather. Sabbath and pelting rain with no sunset arrived as we parked. Grass was flattened as were patches in fields of wheat. The thunder and lightening were fierce almost enough to dampen the memory of the gouge and crunch with Bugzy.

Noticing flattened grass caused by the storm.

It has been a beautiful Sabbath, the storm has cleared the air, and not far from our church is a free botanical garden. The next part of my post I will share four photographs of plants I appreciated in the garden, with a few facts about the plant/s and a verse about angels. Angels are mentioned over 300 times in the Bible. Daniel speaks of seeing ‘thousand thousands…, and ten thousands times ten thousands’ standing before God.

This was a Wow plant in one of the green houses.

Aristolochia gigantea Riesen-Pfeifenblume.

Common name Brazillian Dutchman’s pipe. The face of the flower is oval with a network of pale pink/whitish veins on a maroon background. If a pipevine swallow tail butterfly makes a mistake and lays eggs in this plant the larva die because it is toxic.

The first mention of an angel in the Bible was for one to protect evil from becoming immortal.

Once Adam and Eve sinned: ‘ The LORD God sent them from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which He had made them. And He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims/Angels, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life/to stop anyone eating the fruit and living for ever.’ Genesis 3: 23,24

Here is a group of fly catchers. There are two on the left I haven’t seen before. I need to reasearch these.

Here is a special verse:

‘ The angel of the LORD encamps round about them that fear him, and delivers/saves them. ‘

Psalms 34:7

Native to the Mediterranean region and the Middle East, Asphodeline Gelbe. It takes three years before newly planted seedlings flower. The leaves are green-blue grassy and the flowers bloom randomly not lasting long before the next blooms.

Daniel has been thrown to the lions as punishment but the next morning he tells the King politely ‘ My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me; and also Oh King I haven’t hurt you.’

Angels fed Elijah, told Mary not to be afraid of having Jesus, fed Jesus and strengthened Him in the wilderness, and then came to the desciples to tell them that Jesus would come again. Angels are for us and with us when in Jesus name we sincerely ask for help.

Here is a connection to a speaker I listened to today. He is Mark Finley a Seventh Day Adventist speaker. I like his Bible references.

If Angels Protect, Why do Bad things happen?

Press on the green.

All green.

A bit of blue and I wonder about those clouds. Will there be another storm?

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
