Today has been cold, rainy and windy but I have enjoyed looking at the photographs of where we have been. Here are nine that I thought you might like.

A wool shop in Leiden.

A 6 am sunrise.

The vegetable garden as part of the University of Leiden Botanical Garden.

The Geul River flowing through Belgian contains metals such as zinc and lead from mines that have existed in that area since ancient times. This has meant that here in the Netherlands certain plants need to be mainly zinc tolerant. Press on the photograph to read the sign.
Trams, busses, cyclists and cars a city on the go. I made a comment to Roy that may seem rather sweeping and personal.
‘ These people have such long legs. I’m sure it is because they are on their bikes from the cradle to the grave.’

What I found out was that the people of the Netherlands are on average taller than people of any other European country. Good food and life style, they say. This has not always been that way but has happened over recent years.

Amsterdam and a mannequin.

An arched passage way then a garden.

The trees, cow parsley and a curtain of willow. All freshly green for the middle of May, Ascension Day.
It is quiet with shops mostly closed, children are playing outside, when it stops raining for a bit, and there is a holiday feel.
Today we celebrate that Jesus spent 40 days after His resurrection giving many people the convincing proof that He was alive. Acts 1:3
Then after promising power through the gift of the Holy Spirit Jesus was taken up and received by the clouds. Two angels spoke to the disciples who were watching and this was their question: ‘ Why are you standing looking into the clouds? This same Jesus will come back in the same way as you have seen Him go to heaven.’ Acts1:10,11
So where is Jesus now?
Peter speaking: ‘ He is on the right hand of God with the angels, authorities and powers being made subject to Him.’ 1Peter3:22.
A day to remember that Jesus will return and every eye will see Him. Revelation 1:7
Take care,
Sandy 🙂

I would love to be in that yarn shop! So many pinks!
Yes, it drew my attention as well. The Dutch people love colourful clothes and knitting!
What a promise to us all! He will come again🙏
Yes, and we look forward to that day.
Wonderful random photos, Sandy! What a grand adventure in the Netherlands!
Thank you, Donna. It is an adventure. Today we were where von Gogh was born and grew up.
Thank you for this mini-retreat today, Sandy! A tiny Sabbath. Love the photos!
Yes, it was a lovely quiet day to remember.
