The meadow and the garden

And this is I believe:

God speaking: ‘ Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear:’ and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering of the waters He called Seas: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1: 10

To catch a passing few days in the blossoming of two trees is important to me, as I always thought over these 40 odd years I would see them each year. However, I haven’t as this time of year I have been mostly travelling.

These trees were badly damaged in a storm and I have featured them in winter and autumn posts but here they are in spring.

The broken branch with blossom and…

the trees viewed from water’s side heavily in blossom…

I am so pleased I saw them this year 2026. A continuation of time and a repeat of something memorable from when my children were young.

There were ducks the day I was photographing and I couldn’t help but enjoy the rings of their water patterns. This mallard duck in particular was looking for some food. Its beak sending out ripple patterns to intersect with those of its body was a fine display in the water.

Looking away towards the field, the young trees are surrounded by thick growth where the wild flower meadow was seeded last year.

The leaves of a young oak poking through the netting with the older trees in the distance slowly greening.

Popeswood Meadow this week April 2026.

Now for the garden tulips. This year the tulips have come up here and there as I haven’t planted any more. Mostly they are yellow with some orange and I think one red…

Looking at the raised bed first and then at a group that have been coming up in various numbers each year for as long as I can remember.

The raised bed.

Tulips, chives and bluebells to the right.

Now for what I brought inside.

A vase of grape hyacinths going to seed, bluebells still opening and a tulip.

The sea and land.

The hard and water formed. The seasonal, softly coming from the seed in the earth.

A wonder to look at.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
