They are the same height now…

Nasturtium on the left and sunflowers on the right.

First let us look at the trailing single mixed seed of nasturtium that has germinated into tall plants.

The latin name ‘nasus tortus’ means twisted nose – refering to the facial reaction to their sharp taste. The leaf, seed and flower are edible and high in vitamin C. The leaf is superhydrophobic, that means they are water- repellent allowing water to bead up and remove dirt, helping the plant to stay clean. Aphids and cabbage fly are attracted to the plant so it deters pests from growing vegetables. They are fast growing and flower well if planted in poor soil, rich soil causes the plant to produce more leaves and few flowers.

Two plants with such different futures the trailing nasturtium and the sunflower, now the same height what does the sunflower do?

The sunflower apparently is an environmental cleaner, removing toxins like lead and radiation from soil. Their buds track the sun from east to west but once mature they face east permanently.

I will choose where to plant them but I hope it will suit their differences well.

The superhydrophobic leaves of the nasturtiums.

The leaves of the sunflower that will nourish the tall plant with its face made up of clusters of thousands of tiny florets producing seeds.

Together, the same height, but vastly different futures.

May they both do well.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

Ps

Three thoughts:

Only you can control your future.

Dr Seus

And now Isaiah:

‘ God doesn’t get tired. He is the Creator. You can’t search His understanding. He gives power to the faint. Even young people get tired. But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength.

‘ Keep silence before Me’ says God ‘ and let them renew their strength. ‘

Isaiah 40 : 29-31

Then this:

‘ The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.’

Mike Murdock.

  1. How many plants do you have dear Sandy? 😁☺️ I got two plants last week, one for my birthday and the other for my send off at work. I asked ChatGPT how to care for them. I hope I do well and they stay well. ☺️

  2. I have not done well with plants, but I hope to begin planting in our backyard this year. Thanks for this information and for the contemplations with it!
