Can sky upstage sea? Let me try. In this post, the second to last of our Algarve experiences, I will use verses from the Bible with sky and a special quote from Anne Frank.

Isaiah talking about God: ‘ It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, it is God who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to live in.’
I took this photo by feeling for the line between sea and sky. Through looking I didn’t see it so strongly but in the picture the distinction became clear and forceful. A real difference.

‘The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky (firmament) shows it to be hand made.’ (His handy work.)
The sky has won for me in this photograph. The sea is an echo.

A small triangle of blue with a dash of grey over white. All cloud… the sky is the only focus.
‘ I see the world being slowly transformed into a wilderness, I hear the approaching thunder that, one day, will destroy us too. I feel the suffering of millions. And yet, when I look up at the sky, I somehow feel that everything will change for the better, that this cruelty too shall end, that peace and tranquility will return once more.’ Anne Frank
And now Mark who worked with Peter and Paul speaks quoting the words of Jesus from two thousand odd years ago.
Jesus asks two questions first:
‘What good would it do /what would be the point if a person had the whole world but lost their soul?’
And then
‘What would a person give in exchange for their soul?’
Jesus continues with a strong thought:
‘Whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of that person, the Son of Man shall be ashamed of, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the Holy angels.’
Take care,
Sandy 🙂

A beautiful meditation on sky, Sandy. The sky feels like a lasting reminder that, even in a hurting world, glory, responsibility, and quiet reassurance are all held in that wide, watching blue.
As a Christian, that ‘watching blue’ holds my Saviour and God ( His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me) and a place He will return from as He left. Thank you for calling it beautiful.
This is yet another lovely post, Sandy, thank you. I am drawn to the sky as well; it is boundless, surprising at times, and ever changing. I definitely see God’s majesty. Thanks for sharing your travels, too. They are like mini tours for me!
Yes, the sky is wonderful.Thank you for being with us on these special times. We are on our way home now.
