Dover to Calais

James speaking about speaking:  ‘Out of the mouth comes blessings and cursings. My brothers and sisters, this should not happen.’ James 3:10

Words are very powerful!

It takes 1hr 30mins to travel by ferry from Dover to Calais, and the day is so bright and clear that once in Calais, we could still see the White Cliffs of Dover.

Leaving England for…
…the white sands of Calais with the sea a long way off.

There is a ring in the distance look more closely they are bags. Where are the children?

They are watching with shouts and waiting for their turn. Here comes…

Dragon de Calais.

It spits fire from its toungue and steams in fine droplets of water from both ends.

Leaving the sea front, let us walk into the city.

The tallest in the distance above the red tiled roof tops is
‘Calais light house’
55m in height.
This is a classified French historic monument built in 1848.
It is a significant landmark and navigational aid to ships and ferries using the Straits of Dover.

It is a warm day with quiet city streets as we take in the city.

Tour du Guet.

The areas around the sea front are sympathetically planted with wild insect- attracting hardy plants, and here is where Dragon de Calaias lives.

Dragon de Calais.

And just in case you need to be reminded, Sandy can be a dragon!

‘ Ageing does not make women powerless objects of pity but colourful and entertaining individuals and, on occasions, fire-breathing dragons that wise people don’t cross.’ Floerence King

Welcome on our journey.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

Ps 1 and another Ps 2.

False Dittany,  Rosemary/ shrubby germander and daisies.
A sample of plants growing near the sea.

Ps 2

Here is another look at this charming dragon.

A charming head: ears and eyes moving, a listening and watching you dragon.
The eye-lids fringed with eyelashes blink and eyes twinkle and wink while taking you into its mysterious pretend world.
