Violets and Primroses

“Happy are those who have God for their help, whose hope is in the LORD their GOD: Praise the LORD which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is : which keeps truth for ever: which executes judgement for the oppressed… ” Psalm 146:5-7

An unexpectedly large number of violets have grown under the Camellia shrub. The Camellia that has been in full bloom since the middle of February is now losing its petals on the violets. When photographing these small flowers I wanted to reduce the number in each group with each photograph. I guess I was reducing/ limiting, then refining until the small became important and no longer lost in the crowd. Here are three of the photographs that I took.

‘ Originality exists in every individual because each of us differs from the others. We are all primary numbers divisible only by ourselves.’ Jean Guitton

It was then easy to notice the lungwort flowers with the violas, grape hyacinths and minature daffidols. These I put in a small jug.

Long before I retired I would buy small  bone china tea sets because they were pretty. Today I looked at this one and after a little research I found that it was said that the pattern was based on a piece of silk owned by an officer in the Shropshire Light Infantry.

Notice the small trees and flowers.
The teal, pink, and blue with the carefully shaped trunk .
A pleasant combination.

Here are a few thoughts about numbers:

‘ A good decision is based on knowledge and not numbers.’ Plato

‘ We must say there are as many squares as there are numbers.’ Galileo Galilei

And then

‘ I believe life is a gift, and I want to live it productively. I am not into this numbers game. ‘

Ajith Kuman

Primroses that I didn’t count!

It has been a beautiful sunny day and I saw our first two bumble bees.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
