…and so I painted four tulips,one white rose…

I saw some wonderful paintings by Word Press users, I was so pleased, and then I wanted to shape my own. I reduced the number of flowers, and here is how I experienced them.

The pen sketch
The water colour.

I enjoyed ‘ the doing’  …

The flowers as they are from a different angle.

Religion

God with a loud voice.

I have often heard, ” The Lord was not in the fire but in a still small voice” ( 1Kings 19:12), but what about God having a loud voice and power to shake the Earth. Let us travel with that thought.

Psalm 68:8

David speaking: ” The earth shook the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God…”

Then, a New Testament thought

Hebrews 12 :26,28, 29 (Sandy’s summary read it for yourself)

Paul speaking: ” God’s voice shook the earth, but now He promises to not only shake the Earth, but heaven also… let us have grace that we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.”

Back to the Old Testament

Jeremiah 25: 30

Jeremiah speaking: ” The LORD will roar from on high, and use His voice from His Holy habitation, He will shout against all those who live on Earth.”

And

Joel 3: 16

Joel speaking: ” The Lord shall roar…and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of His people…”

From the last book of the Bible

Revelations 6: 14

John speaking: ” And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.”

Isaiah 24 : 20

Isaiah speaking: ” The earth shall real to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgressions of it will be heavy on it; and it shall fall and not rise again.”

Then  Jesus spoke about His second coming.

Matthew 24 : 36

Jesus speaking: ” But concerning that day or hour, no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, me Jesus, but the Father,God only.”

Possible dates when God was described as having power over the Earth and with a loud, roar of a voice :

Psalms: written over a period of 1,000 years.

Hebrews:  written between AD 60- AD 70.

Jeremiah: written during the last 40 years of Judah’s existence as a kingdom.

Joel: 7th century

Revelations: written late 60’s or 70’s of the 1st century.

Isaiah: written during the height of the Assyrian supremacy.

I travelled with painting and religion today. The one fresh and liquid on a thick brush with a fine tip, the other heavy with God’s loud voice reacting on the Earth.

” It doesn’t hurt to feel sad from time to time.”

Willie Nelson

” The battle between good and evil runs through the heart of every person.”

Alekandr Solzhenitsyn

But also remember.

‘Laughter is the closest distance between two people.’
Victor Borge

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

  1. It was so nice to see your sketch and your watercolour. well done. Lately I have been thinking about hearing God’s voice… How we hear him, either as the still small voice and sometimes in more obvious ways.

  2. Thank you. It’s wonderful to see how different painters capture the beauty of a flower. It may also be interesting to notice us , 2025 people, how we hear God’s voice in comparison to the Biblical characters of old.
