Poetry
‘Frost- burnt ‘ is an adjective used in the late 1600s and used by a diarist and writer John Evelyn in 1670. I wrote the words frost- burnt and then asked myself: ‘ Is this a word?’ Thank you, AI.
Here are my thoughts with photographs and a poem.
Camellia and daffidol frost – burnt?
Frost or the sun
Which one burns?
Frost does its crystals place on daffidols and Camellia
The daffidol the first to bloom is great today
But
The camellia flowers
What has happened to them?
Out from under the sheltering branches all pruned and shaped
Its flower edges brown:
Crystals, and sun,
no shelter
Living too high up
but sheltering those below
Some are frost-burnt others not.
The daffidols bow with the frost and rise with the sun stems bent then straight
Strange this.
Frost- burnt
Stung by the frost
Victimised by the cold.
OR
Was it the sun.
The Camellia.

Our frost was last week.

I find reading the Old Testament with the New Testament fascinating so here is what I was reading today.
First Solomon speaking in the early years of his reign when the Spirit of God was within his heart. He later was lead to worship other gods by 700 wives!
God speaking through Solomon:
‘ My child, don’t forget my law but let your heart keep my commandments.’ Proverbs 3: 1,2
Jesus speaking: ‘ Don’t think that I have come to destroy the law and the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but fulfil. For I am telling you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle will not pass from the law.’
Sandy’s logic . If Jesus had to die for the eating of forbidden fruit, His death would be wasteful if any sin was allowed into heaven. His robe of righteousness, placed on us by asking forgiveness is our HOPE.
Jesus speaking: ‘ I and my Father are one.’ John 10:30
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
