Finding branches…

Jesus speaking: ‘ Stay in Me, and I in you. As the branches cannot bear of itself, except it stay in the vine, no more can you unless you stay in Me.’ John 15: 4

Poem

I spoke to a couple today
Tracing family
Finding a cousin they had never met
Stumbling over a lost relationship;
A father never seen unless you counted when the son was three,
I then looked at painters who included trees:

Jean Baptiste- Camille Carot
' The Leaning tree'.
Adrian van de Velde
' A farm with a dead tree.'
Paul Huet
' Trees in the Park at
Saint - Cloud'

Where were some trees to see?

It stands with a simple wooden fence, not a metal one like for the living oaks.
I took a closer look, and there, among the branches of the living tree, I traced a branch that spread right out and held the dead of the other oak.

The branches from the living oak.

There in the meadow were:

The dead tree, the bare tree, and a  group of trees.

These are what I found today.

The dead tree.
The waiting for spring trees.
A group of trees.

Just trees!

Religion:

Jesus speaking: ‘ You are of the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning and didn’t stay in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks his own : for he is a liar, and the father of it.’ John 8:44

What is this lie?

And the devil/ the serpent said to the woman : ‘ You will not die! Your eyes will be opened, and you will be a god.’ … and Adam and Eve hid from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.  Genesis 3 : 4,5, and 8 ( Sandy’s wording).

If you would like to look at some of Paul Huet’s paintings, press on his name.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

  1. Beautiful trees and nature Super! A friend from Holland send me this quote today which I loved:
“In nature there is no Wi-Fi but a better connection” What wonderful truth

  2. Dear Sandy,

I really like how you reflected on the quotations in your post here. Speaking of tree branches or trunks, I would like to offer the following quotation accompanied by my illustration:

In the cellars of the night, when the mind starts moving around old trunks of bad times, the pain of this and the shame of that, the memory of a small boldness is a hand to hold.
