The brown with a little green suited this time of year and how the garden felt this morning.
The oval leaves are Eucalyptus gunnii. The plant has thrived so far this winter, and near to it is Japonica Mahonia, new to bloom. This winter shrub has a fragrance that has led some to call it angel’s breath. In the vase, reminding us of this February month of winter is one small leftover stalk of bear’s breeches or Acanthus Mollis, native to Greece, associated with immortality, enduring life and rebirth.
Let us look at texture. The small hairs, twists, and bends of the vegetation sometimes against smooth and well shaped line- contained foliage.
