David speaking: ‘say thank you to the Lord for He is good; He is forever merciful. ‘
Psalm 107 :1
From a sailing community to a mountain town in the Serra Monchque mountains. First let us visit Vilamoura.

Where the red and gold of the cliffs flatten a little and then go away completely, there is a wealth of sailing opportunities.
Vilamoura Sailing Centre.

Out at sea, there seems to be a sailing competition with people from Greece, Poland, Czech, UK, Germany, Holand, Turkey, Ireland…
The vans parked were the tell-tale signs of who may be out at sea. My lens couldn’t pick up the many white, right-angle triangles we could see quite far out.

A footbridge allowed you to enter the town.
This area filled with sun, a good breeze, restaurants and a few shops made a good place to spend time.

Leaving the beach, we head to the mountains. Monchique.
A town nestled amongst orange groves , young Eucalyptus trees, and Cork trees. A place to walk rather than drive through in Bugzy. Here, our first Christmas market is open. As we have travelled through France,Spain, and Portugal, we have seen decorations go up with wooden cabins put in place. It is in Monchique that we see theirs in use. Children laughing and tasting food and mothers buying.

Sunny Portugal keeps on giving.
Take care,
Sandy 🙂

( That is why I photograph. I want to remember these times of travel with Roy, our son , and Bess in Bugzy.)
Portugal looks totally enchanting! I’ve heard about several people emigrating there from SA and Kenya. Good place to retire.
How nice for them.
