Dock, achilea, and rudbeckia.

Religion

Jesus speaking:

Two men go to the temple to pray:

One said, ” God, thank you that I am not like other men: exploitative,  unjust, adulterers, or even as this public contractor working for the Romans.”

The other (the public contractor) said:  ” God be merciful to me a sinner.”

‘ I tell you ‘ continued Jesus  ‘ this second man went home justified. For everyone that gives himself a high position will be brought down , and he who humbles himself will be thought highly of.’

Then Jesus says something to (Simon) Peter  at another time.

“Simon, Simon,  Satan wants to have you, so that he can sift you like wheat: But I , Jesus, have prayed for you that your faith will not fail: and when you are converted make your brothers strong.”

Dock, achilea, and Rudbeckia in a Portmeiron pottery vase.

I last used this vase for twigs of smowberries and thought that on this rainy day, the rudbeckia and the daisies painted on the side would look good together.

Today, between the showers, we would like to plant the following in the garden:

Achilea Coronation Gold. I like its feathery foliage and its flat-topped flower. It will probably experience partial shade, although the back garden faces south.

Rudbeckia Early Bird Gold. I was interested to read that it was a North American prairie wild flower able to grow well in exposed windy places. I hope it does well near the Achilea plant.

I am not planting the Dock. The fields can always provide that. 🙂

Some quotes about prayer.

‘ To be  Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.’

Martin Luther

‘ True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than that- it is spiritual transaction with the Creator of Heaven and Earth.’

Charles Spurgeon

‘ Prayer should be the key of the day and the lock of the night.’

George Herbert

My enjoyment of the Dockweed , Achillea, and Rudbeckia this morning.
I left these at the garden centre but couldn’t resist a photograph.

Have a beautiful day.

Sandy 🙂
