Bodo Norway

My post is a little different today it has two clear sections religion and travel, but I will start with a verse I wrote and two quotes.

Some wait for a ferry
Others wait for a fairy
We wait
You wait
There should be a class on waiting at school!

If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm , you’ll never enjoy the sunshine.

Morris West

The world is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper.

Bertrand Russell

So we got to Bodo Norway, and I opted for time out to read, think, and paint the ferry would be in at 7pm, and it was 3pm. Four good hours.

Here is where my mind went.

What is God’s character?

What does He say He likes and doesn’t like?

He likes:

Light

Earth and Sea

Grass , herbs , fruit trees

The sun, moon and stars

Birds and fish

Men and women

Rest (He seems to like this a lot . He blessed it and sanctified it.)

Genesis 1 : 1-31, 2 : 1-3

He doesn’t like:

Us, people, to love anyone more than Him. Don’t have any gods before me.

No images of birds or fish or anything to bow down to.

Don’t use my name in vain/ falsely.

Remember the Sabbath ( the 7th day of creation, the blessed one). It can be written like a seal:

Name: Lord God

Title: Creator/Maker

Territory:  Earth

Honour parents

Don’t kill

Don’t commit adultery

Don’t steal

Don’t tell lies

Don’t covit

Exodus 20:3-17

I guess that was easy enough to find. My God’s character, according to the Bible.  I guess I need to now know how to love Him.

Wait for the Lord,

Be strong and let your heart take courage;

Yes , wait for the LORD.

Psalm 27 : 14

If you see beyond yourself, then you may find peace of mind is waiting there.

George Harrison

Travel

Bodo is just north of the Arctic Circle. It is the largest urban area and town in the Nordland county and the second largest town in North Norway. Bodo was named one of the European Capitals of Culture for 2024 ( seen on a sign in the town). Most of the town is modern as a lot of it was destroyed during the war on 27 May 1940.

Waiting.
Be warned that  the ferry timetable to Sorvagen is complicated.
There are summer, winter and off and on days.
We took it as it came.
No booking .
Got in the queue.
The weather at sea turned out to be  grim, and we were told to sit at the back in the middle.
It was a good idea.
My fun on the side.

On the plains of hesitation bleach the bones of countless millions who, at the dawn of decision , sat down to wait, and waiting died.

George W. Cecil.

Know why and what you are waiting for. Ours was bumpy, but I am sure I will share what  was on the other side in my next post.

Take care,

Sandy. 🙂
