Here is a scene from the temptations of Christ.
And the devil took Jesus up into a high mountain, shewed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
Devil: All this power will I give you, and the glory of them… if you worship me.
Jesus: Get behind me Satan, for it is written : Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
Luke 4: 5-8

this is part of what you see.
Orderly structured living, moving. Controlled.
Let us walk down, instead of using the Floibanen Funicular we came up on in 8 minutes.
Trees high above.
Roots scrambling over rocks.
A miracle of hanging on.
Moss holding and letting go.
We use our knees to brace our legs not to let our feet slide.
A good quality path is truly appreciated by us all.

It makes me wonder about these sayings about holding on.
All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.
Havelock Ellis
Holding on to an anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one that gets burnt. (Not quite applicable but useful.)
George S Patton
Courage is fear holding on a minute longer.
George S Patton
Let us walk into the city. We are not tourists. We are travellers.
The colours and shapes of buildings.
The streets.
The people.
Look into the photographs see what you may find.

A clean city. Water is close by in fountains and the inlets of sea:
Byfjorden
Valgen
Puddefjorden
And here is the sailor’s monument celebrating the close relationship Norway has had with the sea over many years. The cuboid shape has 12 bronze statues. Three men representing the poor, servile, and middle classes for each period.

Its place is taken by a street with flowers. Bergen has filled the similar metal , saucer – shaped containers set on sphere -shaped feet, as Oslo had in her streets. Here, the viola/ pansies are huge mounds of yellow, white, and orange . They catch your eye here and there in the city. A friendly gesture.
Down some more streets. A reminder to take care of our world and some street art. See what you think.

We then spent time in the Museum Garden.

The palm house wasn’t open today, but the rhododendrons were in full bloom.
I hope they don’t spread up into the mountains.
We have had plenty of sunshine in May, so the seedlings are thriving.

of buildings,
a backdrop to this pleasant garden with young people sunbathing.
I hope you have enjoyed your weekend.
Take care.
Sandy 🙂
Ps
Press on Edvard Grieg ” Peer Gynt – Morning Mood ” to listen to his music. This composer was born in Bergen in 1843 and died here in 1907.
I am homebound after hip replacement surgery–thank you for offering this beautiful “get away”.
