A fjord and Kristiansand’s bells

I know this is difficult, but I want you to understand what the width is, the length, and the depth and height of the love of Christ. This love passes all knowledge but fills us with the fulness of God.  Sandy’s wording.

Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,  according to the power that works in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world with out end. Amen.

Ephesians 3: 18,19, 20, 21
My fjord with swollen clouds reflected in the water.

First some paint and then thoughts in a poem.

A fjord (In the Norwegian language, the term fjord can refer to a wide range of waterways including inlets .For example, the Oslofjord is not a fjord in the geological sense.)

Norway, spruce, and birch
Small but stately distant trees
Needles four sided blunt with birch bark peeling

Fringe of vibrant new green grass
Sky of blue and white
A fjord of swollen clouds

This land of water, full light and little night,
Where wild lupins grow,
With dandelions,buttercups, and bright campion.

We will be spending time in towns and places near, looking over and under fjords, ( tunnels, )so the first experience of Kristiansand Norway is a bridge …

A bridge in Kristiansand with a moody sky.

then into the town…

In the centre of the town is the neo Gothic Cathedral of the Church of Norway. It seats 1, 000 people comfortably and is 60m long 38.7m wide and its steeple is 70m in height.

The cathedral received a gift of a carillon with 36 bells. (A carillon is a musical instrument composed of at least 23 carillon bells arranged in chromatic sequence. ) This was given in 1990 by Falconbridge Nikkelverk and created by Olsen Nauen Bell foundry.

There are roughly 650 carillonsa worldwide, more than 180 of which are located in the U.S.

The people of Kristiansand were responding to it this morning in a very quiet town. I hope you enjoy the video.

Some thoughts about bells:

As clear as a bell.

Doesn’t ring a bell.

Is that a warning bell?

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
