The white flowers of the garden 2024

Behold the heaven,and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.

Deuteronomy 11: 14

The garden has provided joy this spring. After the daffidols that bloomed under the apple tree and smaller narcissus growing here and there, April has a few more days  for us to enjoy the yellow, red, and orange of the tulips  while the white flowers begin to bloom.

Then, in the house with their citrus perfume, Mexican orange from the shrub near the pond.

We certainly have had a lot of rain this April, and here is what was said by a best-selling English poet who lived from 1524 to 1580 in the Elizabethan age.

Sweet April showers spring May flowers.

Thomas Tusser

I followed this a little more to see what else he wrote and found this poem by him.

Time And The Year
In spring-time we rear,we do sow,and we plant;
In summer get victuals, lest after we want;
In harvest we carry in corn, and the fruit,
In winter to spend, as we need of each suit.

The year I compare,as I find for a truth,
The spring unto childhood,the summer to the youth,
The harvest to manhood, the winter to age,
All quickly forgot,as a play on a stage.

Time past is forgotten,ere men be aware;
Time present is thought on,with wonderful care;
Time coming is feared,
and therefore we save,
Yet oft ere it come we be
gone to our grave.

The lands and the riches that here we possess,
Be none of our own, if a God we profess,
But lent us of Him, as His talent of gold,
Which being demanded,
who can it withhold?

I hope you have a good day. We have sunshine and blue skies right now.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

Ps

Time spent with the wild garlic flowers.
