February blossoms

A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.

Proverbs 15 : 1 New King James Version

February has come with blossoms, and here is a poem I have tried to write using Udit Bhatia’s cascade form. The poet using this form takes each line from the first stanza of a poem and makes those the final lines of each stanza. There are no additional rules for rhyming, meter, etc.

A blossom petal in February

Soft but well defined
Bruises but falls lightly
Individual but needs the group.

Drawn by the Japanese in the 5th century
Yet new each spring
Soft but well defined.

Van Gogh's favourite
And Damien Hurst's in July 2021
Bruises but falls lightly

Not pliable, not malleable, not formless
But delicate, silken smooth and fine
Individual but needs the group.

Time enjoyed painting these delicate blossom petals.

Two contrasting thoughts using soft.

There is no pillow so soft as a clear conscience.

On the soft bed of luxury many kingdoms have expired.

Andrew Young 1932 American politician, diplomat, and activist. In 2023 Young launched the Andrew Young HBCU Scholarship Program.)

Take care.

View van Gogh’s Almond blossoms and then Damien Hurst’s Cherry Blossom by googling these two headings seperately.

  1. I like your poem Sandy! Blossoms are so delicate and your painting shows that. Also the quote about sleeping with a clear conscience. Very true🌹 Happy Valentine’s Day
