Flowers for Mary

David is talking to God: ” I am in need and poor (physically, and mentally ) God you think about me: You are my help and my deliverer; don’t be late , Oh my God.”

Psalm 40:17

A bunch of flowers
given with love
and passed on with
respect.

I ordered the book by Mary Doyle, “The Alzheimer’s Spouse, about four weeks ago, and yesterday it came just as my son walked in and said:

“Mum, these are for your blog/post.” He put these bright orange, red, and yellow roses with some lily buds into my hands, and now I place them here for you, Mary.

Mary, neither my husband nor I knowingly have Alzheimer’s, but it is with deep appreciation that I read your book.

Here are three useful quotes for anyone caring for someone with mental challenges:

Mourn what is lost and move on.

Don’t let outsiders’ critical comments get you down. It’s not just that they don’t understand; they can not understand.

Don’t worry about what may never happen.

Mary K. Doyle ( She is also the author of Navigating Alzheimer’s: 12 Truths about Caring for Your Loved One).

Thank you, Mary, for having the strength and courage to share your personal pain in a clear, helpful and honest way.

An insightful book for anyone who has a spouse or has a friend with a spouse going through these deep changes.

Take care in the way that is best for you.

Sandy 🙂

  1. Oh, Sandy. You are so sweet and thoughtful. Thank you. I appreciate you seeking to understand the role of caregiver spouse. It isn’t an easy one. Blessings, Mary

  2. Lovely flowers, so sweet to give to Mary. Alzheimer’s is such a sad disease, I’ve dealt with it with my grandmother. On the flip side, I just received Mary’s book “Private-Keep Out!” for my grandsons & I to read for fun. 🙂

    1. Sandy, scratch my comment, ugh. I did order the book for my grandboys, but is was from Gwen Grant, a U.K. writer. I did know about Mary’s books about alzheimer’s, and had looked at the books she’s written.

  3. To be the carer and live through this terrible situation must be dreadful. Our prayers go out to Mary🙏
