Peter says : ‘Let us look forward and encourage the coming of the day of God. When He comes, the heavens will be on fire and melt with the dreadful heat…and there will be a new heaven and new earth… but in the meantime, be diligent for peace and doing what is right.’
2 Peter 3 : 12-14 (Sandy’s understanding)
I went to the garden and picked the first Camellia to bloom. The shrub is covered in buds.

Once in a brown bottle, the stem showed me something unusual. Green, shiny leaves facing forward two buds tight but also facing forward.
Then, turning the bottle around, the face of a fully open Camellia facing forward, but now the leaves are matt green and facing back.
Leaves with buds and then Camellia flower reading the light differently.
Nobody gets to live life backwards. Look ahead, that is where your future lies.

Diaper backward spells repaid. Think about it.🤣
Marshal McLuhan (1911 – 1980 Canadian philosopher “father of media studies”.)
I went back to the garden a little uninspired with the wind harsh and wondering what I would see.
Then I noticed the wooden fruit box full of tulip shoots. I ‘lasagna ‘ -planted them last year in December.
Leaving a garden behind is always sad, and last year, while in Greece, these red tulips bloomed for our neighbours. Here is a photo kindly sent to me by them and today the lasagna planting of last year’s gifted tulip bulbs can once again be seen as they are happily up again.

I wonder if they are there.

He hasn’t been blown down with twigs and small branches.
He still looks pleased.
I try to avoid looking forward or backward, and try to keep looking upward.
Her love for God and her church was deep.
Charlotte Bronte (English novelist and poet. 1816 – 1855.) I was sad to read that she died with her unborn baby three weeks before her 39th birthday, having fallen pregnant shortly after getting married. I am always struck by how medical science has provided us with so much to be thankful for. So many gifted people, if born later, would have survived longer.
Here is a link to one of her poems read aloud Life written by Charlotte Bronte and read by Shanid.
Tomorrow will be a better day.
Take care.
Sandy 🙂
Sandy, a delightful post and your gnome is looking most pleased with himself! Your camellia is glorious and wow, those tulips were astonishing – hope you get to see them yourselves this year. The palindrome words were fun and it was a joy to listen to Charlotte Bronte’s poem – I never realised she was pregnant when she died. They all had such a difficult lives but her courage is inspirational in this poem – many thanks for sharing.
Yes, I listened to several readings of the poem. A small mistake didn’t stop me from choosing this one. I learn so much ‘travelling the roads’ of my posts. People who were so gifted suffered so much. I may be travelling again but if not I will be pleased to see them too. Have a wonderful 2024 with your family!
That is the cutest gnome I’ve ever seen! Love how he is aged too. 🙂
Yes, he has been in the tree keeping an eye on us for umpteen years.
