Marlow

God’s radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hands, And there is the hiding of His power.

I trust in thee, O Lord I say Thou art my God my times are in Your hand.

Habakkuk 3:4 Psalm 31: 14-15

Let me take you into the pictures I took on Friday:

Down a side road is the traditional Royal Mail post van. It used to be a prompt for the song:

” Postman Pat and his black and white cat” when my sons were small. Today I wanted a reminder of our 2nd class Christmas stamps this year. No Queen’s head but our King up on the right with a feathery white and red winged angel.

Then onto the main road with a long view to Marlow Suspension Bridge and to the left standing on the pavement is my grown son and our black and white Bess. A winter mood, the sky, tree and darkness. But that sun in the sky is in the church…

All Saints Marlow Church
a site where people have prayed over the last 1,000 years.
Soft light and warmth after walking in from the greyness.

Let us look up at a window

There is the sky and a tree we are right next to the Thames…

The grave stones go down to the river, the newest very close to the rushing water.
A flock of Canadian geese rose from the water a fly pass of honking heavy birds.
If you look carefully you will see gushing water at the weir with gates open.
There is also the interesting Bridge between Marlow and Bishom on the right…

The grade 1 listed building, Marlow Suspension Bridge and the Szechenyi Chain Bridge, spanning the River Danube in Budapest were both designed by William Tierney Clark. The Marlow Bridge built 1829 -1832 is a small scale version of the Budapest Bridge.

Let us leave through the church gate and walk up into the town. Charming shops in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A small taste of a magical place.

The weather a major player in the feel of Marlow on a Friday afternoon.

Here are some thoughts about clouds:

There is a bright spot in every dark cloud.

Bruce Beresford Australian film director and screenwriter.

The sky and sun are always there. It’s the clouds that come and go.

Rachel Joyce British writer

If clouds are blocking the sun there will always be a silver lining that reminds me to keep on trying.

Matthew Quick American writer

Take care.

Sandy 🙂
