A sabbath walk of 4 miles at Mortimer

Jesus makes some mud with His spit and some dust. He puts it on a blind man’s eyes and asks him to wash in a pool. The man can see . He does this on the Sabbath day and the Pharisees are upset…Jesus’ words end the chapter :’ if you were blind , you should have no sin: but now you say : We see ; therefore your sin remains.’

John 9: 6 -41 ( A very interesting miracle written briefly by me. )
Skies carrying storm Babet’s rain in slowly floating grey vessels ready to tip over vivid green pastures.
The sky and the field making each other colourfully their best.
Scotland is getting more rain than us. (100 – 200 mm of rain)
Paths red with leaves worn to bits and soft under foot.
A rich mulch.
Fern is going red brown, nature’s lace.
Strangely, we stay dry, happy to be outside.
Chestnuts are on the ground , the trees’ leaves still green.
The trunk straight defies my lens to tell its height.

Then, many shades of brown

Soon, back to Mortimer’s church.

A sticky mud underfoot walk but pleasant .

Here are some thoughts about mud.

He who slings mud generally loses ground.

Adlai Stevenson

Writing is like walking in a deserted street. Out of the dust in the street, you make a mud pie.

John Lewis Carre

Saint Ambrose then gives this advice:

‘ Bind up thy words that they run not riot, and grow wanton, and gather up sins for themselves in too much talking. Let them rather be confined and held back within their banks. An overflowing river quickly gathers mud.’

Thank you for letting me share this wet rain filled Sabbath afternoon.

Sandy 🙂
