Sabbath walk by the river Ayr

It is God which works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

Philippians 2: 13

Today we are in Scotland:

Pick a blackberry
Pop it in your mouth
Release the seeds stuck in your teeth with your tongue
Pop in another, then another
Look at the red-orange of a rosehip
Then swallow the juice of the berries
The rivers fluid going down your throat.

You are walking along the river Ayr.

It's source at Glenbuck Loch 60 km away,
you are following its last twists and turns to the sea.
The mouth at the town of Ayr.
There on its banks pagans had sacrificial horse burials as they showed reverence for this river.

Yes, the water is brown and cold
The sun is sharp
And all around a possible 750,000 shades of green pull you to their side.

Then a cow's nostrils take in air.
You are back to the park up for the night.

Sandy 🙂

It is estimated that there are 750,000 greens visible to the human eye, or three quarters of all colour. ( Joe Dowden – Complete Guide to painting water in water colour.)

Original source unknown to me.

Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.

Love, like a river , will cut a new path whenever it meets an obstical.

Many a calm river begins as a turbulent waterfall, yet none hurtles and foams all the way to the sea.

It has been a wonderfully sunny day.

Thank you for joining us on the roads we travel here in Scotland.

  1. Enjoy Scotland. It’s a place I’d love to go. We’re descended from the Coutts family in Fife through Grandpa Donet. Interesting.
