A brief look at Greys Court gardens and some vegetables.

He that is unjust, let him be unjust still and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every person according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life…

Revelation 22 the last chapter of the last book of the Bible verses 11-14. An important read.

A brief visit because that was what it was. Time enough to listen to a volunteer talk about the different garden rooms on a sunny end of August afternoon. This is my third post on this fascinating place.

Looking at this space planted out in red and white snapdragons with blue salvia one wonders why ? We had the coronation of King Charles III this year of 2023. It was done this way to celebrate.

A jewel box garden.
Each year it is planted fully with flowers so when you look down from the upstairs bedroom windows
sparkles of colour meet your eyes.

Wysteria’s aging twisted form , one hundred and twenty five years of being part of this garden. Carefully cut each year near Christmas time to keep its sheltering shape. It gives shade to plants that thrive and paths to wonder along.

Another gateway well used by a hydrangea in mauve pink maroon. This is a threshold for the rose garden leading away from the white garden .

A delightful rose.
So glad I stopped to take this picture.

‘Not many roses now’ was the guides addition. ‘The old roses smell wonderful the new varieties have shape but little scent. ‘ I didn’t smell this one I only photographed but what was said was true.

Reaching for the sky corn and sunflowers.
A tall group.

We leave this garden in the care of the National Trust volunteers and look at a gift of vegetables from a friend’s garden.

Ends and beginnings…

It is always easier to see the beginning from the end, than the end from the beginning.

Julia McMair Wright 1840-1903 An American domestic writer.

Great is the art of beginning , but greater is the art of ending.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

…as seen in vegetables…

The beginning.
The flower was once here.
The end .
The stalk of a maroon tomatoe.
The middle of some purple beans

With the possible exception of the equator, everything begins somewhere.

C.S. Lewis

May your days begin and end well.

Sandy 🙂
