A view of Blyde Canyon and dam

David is talking to God: ‘ Your righteousness is like the great mountains: Your judgements are a great deep (valley): Oh Lord, You preserve man and beast. How excellent is Your loving kindness Oh God! We the children of people put our trust under the shadow of your wing.’

Psalm 36: 6,7
…and across the Canyon
A fruit juice tin of delicate vegetation . Such a pleasure to see along the paths.
Me looking at such intricate detail with awe. Then also…

Pilgrim’s Rest a mining town from 1879 where panning for gold was the great attraction. The town is a museum with quaint shops and good restaurants serving homely food.

The main road through the town with
the Highwayman’s garage opposite

Dad identified this car with pleasure written all over his face:

” Yes, that’s a 1942 or 1948 Plymouth. My Dad had a Whippett!”

A shapely form with varying shades of brown rusty sunlit metal .
The complete steering wheel and coiled springs all bare.
Dad on his 94th birthday and me at 67! The ancient and old!
It was fitting to celebrated his birthday in Pilgrim’s Rest.

A friend who is far away is sometimes much nearer than one who is at hand. Is not the mountain far more awe – inspiring and more clearly visible to one passing through the valley than those who inhabit the mountain.

Khalifa Gibran 1883 -1931 Lebanese – American writer, poet and visual artist . He also wrote: ‘ we choose our joys and our sorrows long before we experience them ‘ and ‘ our worst fault is our preoccupation with the faults of others.’

We are expecting snow 150km away with my family here desperate to see it. It is still very warm here this evening. Take care.

Sandy 🙂
