7 Daffidols and leaves, 5 stems each of last year’s Buddleja and marjoram flowers, and 3 bergenia crassifolia leaves

All things came into being through God, and apart from God nothing came into being that has come into being.

John 1:3
7 daffidols and leaves.
Some dry marjoram and Budleigh flowers and 3 berginia crassifolia leaves in a vase.
Then I tried to paint what I had arranged .
Why not?
I didn’t realise how distinct each flower and leaf was and no I couldn’t capture it. I appreciated it with looking more carefully because really photo didn’t achieve what I saw
either.
I gave up on the two deer on the vase after a little try.

Some things said by Pierre Augustus Renoir

To my mind, a picture should be something pleasant, cheerful, and pretty, yes pretty! There are too many unpleasant things in life as it is without creating still more of them.

I’ve been 40 years discovering that the Queen of all colours is black.

One must from time to time attempt things that are beyond one’s capacity.

You come to nature with all your theories and she knocks them all flat.

Renoir

Pierre-Auguste Renoir 1841-1919 was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. It was interesting to notice that he painted a model by the name of Suzanne Valadon 1865- 1938 who went on to become one of the leading painters of the day. Time spent watching others paint her taught her their techniques.

It was sad to see what he said about himself in 1866 : “….honours shower upon me from every side; artists pay me compliments on my work; there are many people to whom my position must seem enviable but I don’t seem to have a single real friend.

His children followed the arts: Pierre Renoir was an actor (1885-1952), Jean Renoir (1894-1979) filmmaker and ceramic artist Claude Renoir 1906-1969.

Then in the garden there is no more snow and look…

So pleased this hyacinth is still fine.
I can’t say that for the others.

If you would like to see a two minute comparison of two paintings made of the same place at the same time by Monet and Renoir press on:

Tale of two paintings.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Sandy 🙂
